Alain Badiou is a professor in philosophy at the Ecole Normale Superieure, the College International de Philosophie, both in Paris, and at the European Graduate School, in Saas-Fee, Switzerland. In addition to two manifestos for philosophy, he is also the author of numerous other philosophical works, including: Conditions, Ethics, Metapolitics, Handbook of Inaesthetics, The Meaning of Sarkozy, The Rebirth of History, Mathematics of the Transcendental, Number and Numbers, Plato's Republic, and The Communist Hypothesis. He is one of the major philosophers of our century.
